CORON: Kayangan Lake, Coron Island, Palawan
I wasn’t expecting too much about this place when my brother said that this is our next destination. He said that the place is magnificent, but it’s actually remain to be seen… It’s about a 10minute hike going up to the View Deck and down here to reach the lake… And the moment that I saw the lake, I was like “wow”… A place like this only exist the movies.
Suddenly, I was in a dilemma… Am I going to take photos first or submerge already as I was too excited to do both. But I thought taking photos first was the better Idea, because we might enjoy ourselves too much and may actually forget to take pictures in this magnificent lake, hehe.
The water is so clear. It almost looks like the person in the water is actually floating on air, especially if he’s just threading and not moving around and no white water splash coming from other swimmers.
Under the turquoise colored lake are like underwater castle built by nature. But snorkeling a little bit too far makes it impossible to see the bottom of the lake, as it’s too deep. It’s better to snorkel near the spikey wall, but not too near as it might cause some minor laceration. And emptiness you’ll see if you’re swimming at middle of the lake.
Our aunt was actually too scared to look beneath the water for the fear unknown creature that might suddenly grab her legs and take her, hehe. Because our boatman told us that there were huge tentacled creatures living in deeps of one the lakes here… That is, according to the indigenous people living and protecting this sacred place.
