Ilocos Norte: Cape Bojeador Lighthouse

 
Cape Bojeador Lighthouse is the cultural heritage structure of Burgos, Ilocos Norte. It was built during the Spanish Colonial period in the Philippines. Situated on a hill, it is the most prominent structure that can be seen thru its vicinity.

The gate closes at around 5pm so we have to hurry taking photograph of the place. It’s a little bit crowded when we got there, we just got lucky that other tourist was on their way down already, and we’re able to shoot the structure without extra being that’s roaming around.

The structure has a lot rusts and signs of oldness in it, but from my point-of-view it’s still very capable. The walls that built the structure are very thick and still look very durable even after 100 years.
There’s a museum inside, sadly it was closed when we’re there… At the end of these closed doors is the staircase leading to the tower, where there’s plenty of space for those tourist who loves taking pictures.

Some tourist I saw there, sit down for a while have a quiet talk, while enjoying the view beside the proud structure. And aren’t that a cool way of enjoying the place, other than just taking pictures? Hehe

Ilocos Norte: Kapurpurawan Rock Formation

The sun was a little bit setting already when we got here; the wind was blowing hard, the sea endlessly battering the rock formations. It is perfect time and place, for a model shoot, and for landscape photography.

The scenery here was like viewing a fantasy movie.
A natural tunnel made of plants you’re going to pass through going down to the rock formations. It’s more like an arch for me, that will greet you when you’re about to enter a city.

With the aide of a filter I was able to shoot a long exposure of the place.

It was the first time that I saw this kind of rock formations where it’s clear white. The exact opposite of a black limestone’s that I normally see. It was like the outer layer of the rocks that’s dark colour has been peeled to reveal it’s white.

As the sun continuous to set, the sky turns from blue to red. The place was like on fire before the marvellous sun hide for good to call it a day.

Ilocos Norte: The Bangui Windmills

I usually see this kind of scenery on Discovery channel and other anime shows and it looks amazing. But to actually stand besides these giant blades is something, that’s more than amazing. With the turbulent skies that adds to the drama, and the furious waves that kicks everyone at the shore at bay. I can say that this (above photo) was one of my favorite photo that I’ve ever took.

The weather while we’re here was very unpredictable. It was cloudy, the wind was blowing hard, but moment’s later sun gapes the clouds and blue skies will appear, and then go back to thick dark skies again. It was like the heaven is giving us the opportunity to picture the place at its best and worst.

The weather gave us summer and rainy season all at one stop here at Bangui.

There were times where it seems like that gate of heaven had just opened its doors for us, and there were time where hell was wrecking upon us.

That being said, I’ll still never hesitate to go back there again, regardless of the weather.

Ilocos Norte: 2nd time at Calle Crisologo, Vigan

It was my second time to set foot on Calle Crisolog, considered as one of UNESCO world heritage site. The first was a great one, as I get to relax all afternoon trying to do panning shot on the graceful horses that’s passing by the street. But, this time it was just about a 15minute walk here.
 

It was raining when we got here. The tropical storm Ambo was wrecking havoc all day. We’re just lucky that it wasn’t raining that hard and there’s almost no one there outside to interfere with us while we’re shooting the place, plus the wet floor adds to a dramatic photo

Some structures here were being restored. I don’t know if that’s going to be good or bad for the place. But one sure thing that I don’t like about the restoration is that some structure has been modernized inside it. Some structures that pissed me off here were that it becomes a “gimmikan” (a club or some place where people enjoys alcohol). The music was beating with reckless abandon. And it breaks my heart to hear it. I even saw someone from the place walking crossed feet. He was drunk. I mean, come on! This isn’t supposed to be happening, right?

I just wished that this place may also be seen by the next generation. But not like that!

Ilocos Norte: Barangay Pangil, Currimao

The endless scenery to photograph in Ilocos is unbelievable. Like this one in Barangay Pangil, Currimao. The huge coral formations at shore of the beach are just beautiful. The rocks looks like it just pop up out of nowhere, and suddenly they’re all there to impress. But if you’re planning to go on top the corals, you better be wearing with you a thick slipper or much better a shoes, because it’s very thorny and rough, and it cause serious trouble.

The weather momentarily cooperates with us as we took photos of this magnificent landscape. Because from the moment we woke up, and the time we left Vigan going to this place was hellbound. The rain was pouring in on us like there’s no tomorrow… And I thought that luck was still on our side. From time to time the blue sky was appearing for a brief moment before light rains pour in.

A long sand beach can also be found at the end of the coral formations.

Ilocos Norte: Cape Bojeador Point, Burgos

Despite the heavy rains brought by tropical storm Ambo. We’ve manage to sneak in to photograph this magnificent place. We stopped here for merely 10 minutes, as every shot must be a perfect one. I didn’t even bother to look at the results of my shot, as I move quickly to another foreground due to time pressure, as a model shoot was supposed to be held at Bangui Windmills.

I told myself that even an hour in this place wouldn’t be enough. No, even half a day. The foregrounds here were endless. The wind was blowing hard and the skies were filled with raging clouds, and sea was furious, which is perfect for a long camera exposure.

I don’t know what comprises of the ground here, but it looks like it’s made of dead corals and limestone. The colour of the foreground has a nice contrast with the sky, especially when the rain ceases when we took a stop here.
